Description

Uses:

• Treats edema (water retention) caused by heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disorders.
• Helps reduce swelling in legs, lungs, abdomen (ascites).
• Useful in resistant or difficult-to-control hypertension.
• Combination action:
– Torasemide removes extra water and salt.
– Spironolactone prevents potassium loss and reduces fluid buildup.

Dosage:

• Take the dose strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Usually once daily; your doctor may adjust based on your condition.
• Do not self-increase or skip doses.

How to Use:

• Swallow with water, morning time preferred to avoid excess urination at night.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Maintain good hydration unless doctor restricts fluids.

Precautions:

• Inform doctor if you have kidney disease, liver failure, high potassium, dehydration, or electrolyte imbalance.
• Avoid potassium supplements, coconut water, or salt substitutes unless instructed.
• Avoid alcohol — may cause low BP or dizziness.
• Regular tests may be needed: Electrolytes (K+, Na+), Kidney function (creatinine), BP.
• Use with caution in elderly patients.
• Consult doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Side Effects:

• Increased urination
• Low blood pressure, dizziness
• Electrolyte imbalance (especially high potassium from spironolactone)
• Nausea, stomach discomfort
• Muscle cramps or weakness
• Headache
• Breast tenderness or enlargement (rare, hormonal effect of spironolactone)
