Description
CIPCOZ-500 Tablet is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic prescribed for a wide range of bacterial infections in adults and older children.
Uses / Indications

Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Cystitis, pyelonephritis, and other complicated/uncomplicated UTIs.

Respiratory tract infections: Pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, including infections resistant to standard antibiotics.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Bone and joint infections.

Gastrointestinal infections: Infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever, some cases of cholera.

Ear and throat infections.

Sexually transmitted diseases: Uncomplicated gonorrhea, chancroid, bacterial prostatitis.

Anthrax exposure and plague: Used for treatment and post-exposure prophylaxis in specific cases.

Off-label: Used to prevent infection in those with low white cell counts, close contacts of meningitis, or before certain surgeries.

Inhibits key enzymes (DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV) essential for bacterial DNA synthesis and replication, rapidly killing susceptible bacteria.

Dosage & Administration

Typical adult oral dose: 500 mg every 12 hours for moderate-severe infections; dose/frequency varies by infection type and doctor’s advice.

Can be taken with or without food, but avoid taking with dairy, antacids, or iron/zinc supplements near dosing time (interferes with absorption).

Always complete the entire prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early, to reduce recurrence and antibiotic resistance.
Safety & Side Effects

Common: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, rash.

Serious (rare): Tendonitis/tendon rupture, nerve damage, mood/mental state changes, severe allergic reaction, arrhythmia, low blood sugar.

Avoid in children, pregnancy, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, or those with prior tendon disorders unless specifically indicated by doctor.

May cause photosensitivity—avoid excessive sun exposure.
