Description
Oflomac 400 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine containing Ofloxacin (400mg). It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those affecting the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia). It works by inhibiting a bacterial enzyme (DNA-gyrase), which prevents bacteria from multiplying and repairing themselves, ultimately killing them and controlling the infection.
This medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Do not skip doses and complete the full course, even if you feel better, to prevent the bacteria from becoming resistant.
Possible side effects may include nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, itching, or rash. These are usually temporary, but if they persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Rarely, severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling of lips/face, difficulty in breathing) may occur and require immediate medical help.
Safety Advice:
-
Alcohol: Avoid alcohol; it may worsen side effects like dizziness.
-
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Use only if prescribed; safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding is limited.
-
Driving: May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving if affected.
-
Kidney/Liver: Use with caution; dose adjustment may be required in patients with kidney or liver problems.
Missed Dose: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one — do not double the dose.
