Description

Atorniz-10 Tablet contains atorvastatin, a statin medication widely prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood and reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.

Uses / Indications

• Treatment of high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia) and high triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia)

• Prevention of atherosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of arteries due to cholesterol buildup)

• Prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, angina, stroke, and need for heart surgery) in persons with risk factors or established heart disease

Mechanism of Action

• Atorvastatin competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, a liver enzyme essential for cholesterol biosynthesis. This lowers the liver’s cholesterol production, upregulates hepatic LDL receptors, and increases clearance of LDL (“bad cholesterol”) from the blood.

• Also lowers triglycerides and raises HDL (“good cholesterol”).

• Statins, including atorvastatin, can provide anti-inflammatory and plaque-stabilizing effects that further reduce cardiovascular risk.

Typical Dosage & Administration

• One 10 mg tablet once daily, usually taken at any time of day, with or without food (follow your doctor’s instructions).

• Dose may be adjusted according to individual cholesterol levels and cardiovascular risk profile.

Safety & Precautions

• Common side effects: mild muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation.

• Rarely severe: muscle injury (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis), liver damage (check for yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine).

• Monitor liver function and lipid profile regularly, as advised by your physician.

• Avoid large amounts of alcohol, and inform your doctor of all other medicines and supplements being taken (some drugs may interact).

• Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
