Description

Atorniz-A Capsule/Tablet combines two medicines to lower cholesterol and prevent blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular events—especially in patients with risk factors like diabetes, previous heart attack, or after angioplasty/bypass surgery.

How it Works / Key Benefits

  • Atorvastatin: A statin that lowers LDL (“bad” cholesterol) and total cholesterol, raises HDL, reduces triglycerides, and stabilizes arterial plaques. It works by blocking the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol.

  • Aspirin: Acts as an antiplatelet (blood thinner), blocking platelet aggregation, thereby preventing the formation and growth of blood clots that can block arteries and cause heart attacks or stroke.

  • The combination addresses both dyslipidemia and thrombosis risk for comprehensive cardiac protection.

Uses / Indications

  • Prevention of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in high-risk individuals

  • Maintenance therapy after angioplasty, coronary bypass surgery, or stenting

  • Long-term secondary prevention in people with diabetes or established atherosclerotic disease

Dosage & Administration

  • One capsule/tablet daily, after food to minimize stomach irritation due to aspirin’s gastric effect

  • Swallow whole; do not chew or crush (especially for enteric coating of aspirin)

Safety & Precautions

  • Common side effects: stomach upset/pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, nosebleeds, dizziness, muscle pain, joint pain, increased bleeding tendency, insomnia.

  • Rare but serious: gastrointestinal bleeding/ulcer, liver dysfunction, severe muscle injury (rhabdomyolysis), allergic reactions.

  • Caution in patients with history of ulcers, bleeding disorders, liver/kidney impairment, or asthma

  • Not recommended for use in pregnancy, breastfeeding, or children

  • Avoid taking with other blood thinners or high-dose NSAIDs unless prescribed; risk of increased bleeding

Note:
Take Atorniz-A exactly as directed for best results. Continue with dietary/lifestyle modifications and report unusual bleeding, muscle pain, jaundice, or black/tarry stools to your doctor promptly.
