Salt Composition: Cefixime 200 + Clavulanic Acid 125
10.0 tablets in 1 strip
Description
CEFRAX CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic manufactured by Cipla Ltd.. It contains Cefixime (a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic) and Clavulanic Acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor).
This combination is prescribed for the treatment of resistant bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract (sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis), urinary tract infections, ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections, and typhoid fever.
-
Cefixime works by blocking bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
-
Clavulanic Acid helps by inhibiting enzymes (beta-lactamases) that certain bacteria produce to resist antibiotics, thereby enhancing the action of Cefixime.
Together, they provide a broader spectrum of antibacterial activity compared to Cefixime alone.
