Duvadilan IM/IV Injection

Description

Duvadilan IM/IV Injection contains Isoxsuprine (5mg/ml), a vasodilator and smooth muscle relaxant. It is commonly used in the management of conditions related to poor blood circulation and certain pregnancy complications. Isoxsuprine works by relaxing blood vessels and smooth muscles, improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues.

It is usually given via intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) route under strict medical supervision.

Uses

• Treatment of peripheral vascular diseases such as:

  • Arteriosclerosis (hardening of arteries)

  • Buerger’s disease

  • Raynaud’s disease (cold fingers/toes due to poor circulation)

• Management of cerebrovascular insufficiency (poor blood supply to the brain).

• Used in pregnancy complications:

  • Threatened miscarriage

  • Premature labor (to relax the uterus)

  • Uteroplacental insufficiency (poor blood supply to placenta).

How It Works

• Vasodilator Action: Isoxsuprine relaxes blood vessels, improves blood flow, and enhances oxygen supply.

• Smooth Muscle Relaxation: Relaxes the uterus, preventing premature contractions during pregnancy.

• Improves circulation: Reduces muscle cramps, cold limbs, and ischemic symptoms caused by poor blood supply.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Nausea, vomiting

• Headache, dizziness

• Flushing (warmth/redness of skin)

• Weakness

Serious but rare:

• Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with:

  • Recent heart attack (myocardial infarction)

  • Severe bleeding disorders

  • Low blood pressure

• Should be used cautiously in patients with heart disease or glaucoma.

• In pregnancy, used only under doctor’s supervision (especially in cases of threatened miscarriage or premature labor).

• Avoid alcohol as it may worsen dizziness and low blood pressure.
