Description

Thyronorm 200mcg Tablet contains Thyroxine (Levothyroxine Sodium), a synthetic thyroid hormone prescribed for the management of severe hypothyroidism and as part of thyroid cancer suppression therapy. This is one of the highest strengths available in the Thyronorm range and is generally prescribed to patients who require very high doses of thyroid hormone replacement following thyroidectomy, radioiodine therapy, or advanced thyroid cancer.

Indications / Uses:
Thyronorm 200mcg is prescribed for:

• Severe hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland)

• Goiter management (to reduce thyroid gland enlargement)

• Post-thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy to maintain hormone levels

• Thyroid cancer suppression therapy (high-dose T4 to suppress TSH and prevent cancer recurrence)

• Long-term management in patients needing higher hormone replacement

How It Works:
Thyroxine (T4) replaces the natural thyroid hormone that the body cannot produce sufficiently. It:

• Regulates metabolism and energy balance

• Controls heart rate, temperature, and body weight

• Supports nervous system, brain development, and growth

• Balances protein, carbohydrate, and fat metabolism

At the 200mcg dose, Thyronorm provides powerful hormonal support for patients with complete thyroid hormone deficiency.

Dosage & Administration:

• Taken once daily on an empty stomach, ideally 30–60 minutes before breakfast.

• Swallow whole with water. Avoid milk, tea, or coffee immediately afterward.

• 200mcg dose is prescribed only for patients requiring very high thyroid hormone replacement, and dosing is always individualized based on TSH levels.

• Regular monitoring is essential.

Side Effects:
Excessive dosing may cause hyperthyroid-like symptoms, including:

• Rapid heartbeat or palpitations

• Anxiety, irritability, or nervousness

• Insomnia or restlessness

• Excessive sweating, heat intolerance

  Rare but serious: chest pain, seizures, or allergic reactions.
