Description
Oflomac-M Suspension contains a combination of Ofloxacin (50mg/5ml) and Metronidazole (100mg/5ml). It is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medicine used in children to treat bacterial and parasitic infections, especially those causing diarrhea, dysentery, and infections of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, lungs, genital tract, and teeth.
This medicine works by damaging the DNA of harmful bacteria and parasites, thereby stopping their growth and preventing the infection from spreading. By combining two active agents, it provides broad-spectrum protection against mixed bacterial and parasitic infections.
How to use:
Oflomac-M Suspension is given orally, usually at a fixed time each day, with or without food. The dose is carefully decided by the doctor depending on your child’s age, weight, and severity of infection. Shake the bottle well before each use and measure the dose with a proper measuring cup or spoon. Ensure the full course is completed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence and resistance.
Possible side effects:
Oflomac-M Suspension is generally well tolerated, but some children may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, metallic taste, loss of appetite, or temporary urine discoloration. These effects are usually mild and go away once the body adjusts to the medicine. However, if side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor promptly.
Precautions:
Before starting this medicine, inform the doctor if your child has a history of allergy, liver problems, kidney disease, or heart conditions. Proper medical supervision helps ensure safe and effective treatment.
Missed dose:
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for the next one, skip the missed dose — do not double the dose to make up.
